Case Study A4 - Summary of Panels, Phenotyping and Exclusion Cells - Answer (Exclusion 1)

This panel cell is Jk(a-) and K+k+.

Even though it is from a donor heterozygous for K, this cell, together with cell #9 from the initial panel (also K+k+), are sufficient to exclude anti-K.

Note: The laboratory uses an SOP that specifies that anti-K can be excluded by 2 heterozygous red cells.
