Forums & Mailing Lists

AUSTRALIA - NEW ZEALAND

For members of the Australia & New Zealand Society of Blood Transfusion

CANADA

A bilingual (English - French) mailing list created by Canada's Transfusion Safety Officers (TSOs). Membership is open to anyone working in Canada's blood system, not just TSOs (restriction to Canada is due to the cost of translation). Messages are sent by e-mail using listserv software (see my interview in Listserv at Work) but are archived on the web and can be viewed and searched there.

UNITED KINGDOM

For members of the British Blood Transfusion Society

UNITED STATES

For members of the American Association of Blood Banks

One of the best places to find quality information (moderated by Ira Shulman)

Anyone can view messages but you must register to post a message. It's easy but asks for your birth date (give any date). The site's origin is not transparent so I investigated. The site was registered in 2003 by a medical technologist working as a regulatory compliance officer at a hospital transfusion service in Boston.

LABORATORY - GENERAL

  • Mailing list: MEDLAB-L

Anyone working or studying in transfusion medicine can subscribe. I created this list in 1994 and it is now has ~ 2400 subscribers in 50 countries. All laboratory disciplines are covered including transfusion medicine. Several well known transfusion service medical directors and many knowledgeable blood bankers subscribe. Messages are sent by e-mail using listserv software but are archived on the web and can be viewed and searched by subscribers.
