Answer (Question 2)
- Is the anti-A1 present in some A subgroups usually clinically significant?
Most examples of anti-A1 do not react above 30o C and are clinically insignificant.
When patients have a very rare example reactive at 37o C (by prewarm technique) the antibody should be considered clinically significant and the patient crossmatched with group A2 or group O red cells.
